Since the year 2000, the company has spent more than R91 billion in the expectation of discovering fresh diamond resources. What's the end result? Only one large diamond resource was identified in Bunder, India, while Botswana discovered a much smaller deposit (known as the Karowe mine). The majority of diamond prospecting today takes place in African countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, and Angola. The diamonds will be mined and then sold to the makers. South African countries currently generate the most diamonds in the world.

To turn a raw diamond into a sparkling jewel, this aspect of the supply chain process demands technical skill and a trained eye. A method that only a few jewelers are capable of. It's critical to remember the following five steps once it reaches this point:

The cutting and polishing of a rough diamond requires a great deal of forethought. The rationale for this is to prevent the stone from being wasted. By mapping the stone through a machine, the artisan will designate the best feasible cut and shape for a rough diamond during this process. The cutter will have a clear concept of how to cut the diamond so that it reaches its greatest potential with this detailed data and measurement.

Cleaving

The cleaving procedure, also known as sawing, entails cutting the rough diamond into individual pieces, gradually transforming it into a stunning faceted gemstone. One of the most challenging procedures is diamond cutting, which necessitates a great deal of expertise and the correct equipment.

After the rough diamond has been cleaved, it will be subjected to bruting, also known as girdling, in order to round the individual stones. The stone will be placed on a spinning axle by the cutter. Two diamonds will rotate against each other in this step to generate a perfectly round shape.

Blocking and polishing

Forming facets in the diamond is the next phase in the cutting and polishing process. The stone will be placed on a spinning wheel and linked to a revolving arm by the polisher. After this procedure, the diamond will go through two crucial stages: blocking and brillianteering.

Blocking entails polishing 8 pavilion main facets, 8 crown facets, and 1 table facet to create a standard template for the rough diamond. The diamond's remaining facets would then be added during the brillianteering process. The diamond must have 57 facets in order to achieve its maximum potential. When the facets are properly oriented and aligned, The stone will have remarkable fire, brilliance, and scintillation due to its exact proportion.
